Do you have a lot of costume jewelry you never wear? I do. A lot of it is very ugly, or out of style. I have a lot of earrings that are missing their mate, and a lot more earrings that are too heavy to wear, or make my ears turn green. Well, here is a quick and easy way to make hair accessories that are super cute out of your old jewelry.

You Will Need:

You Need:

Jewelry.  And I'm not talking about great grandma's family heirloom pearl necklace. This is the cheap stuff you buy at the mall, or at a yard sale.

Ribbon
Hair Elastics
scissors
needle and thread
wire cutters.
bobby pins.

To Make the Headband:

To make the headband, tie two hair elastics together. tie one end of the ribbon, then check it around your head and tie the other end so that it is a good fit.  You could also sew the ends, or glue them for a neater appearance, but this is much quicker.

In this example I'll show you how to add post earrings. You can use anything, pins, earrings, rings, whatever.

I just popped the post through the ribbon, and bent the post so it was flat. Then I added a few stitches just to secure it well.

That's it. If this doesn't work for you, I'm sure between sewing and hot glue you can get it to stick.

To Make the Hair Clip.

Here I turned a chandelier earring into a hair clip.
This is super easy, I put the bobbypin through the hole, and trimmed off the earring stem with some wire cutters.

that's it.

hope you like them!
