Looking for a fun and easy way to fold a frog out of paper? This quick origami project is perfect for beginners and only takes a few minutes to complete. Let’s get folding!

Supplies

To make the frog, you will need:

a square piece of origami paper

a black felt-tip pen

Prepare the Base Folds

a) Make sure your paper is perfectly square. If you're using A4 or Letter-size paper, cut it into a square first.

b) Fold the square in half from top to bottom, then unfold. Repeat from left to right and unfold again. Now you should have a cross in the center.

c) Now fold the paper diagonally from corner to corner, unfold, and repeat for the other diagonal. This gives you an “X” across the square.

d) You should now see four creases: one vertical, one horizontal, and two diagonals. These will help you collapse the paper into a triangle base in the next step.

Form the Triangle Base

a) Using the creases you made, gently push the left and right edges of the square inward while also guiding the top and bottom points together. The paper should naturally collapse along the folds into a flat triangle.

b) Now rotate the triangle so that the single point (the tip) faces downward and the long flat side is at the top.

c) Take the bottom right corner of the triangle and fold it diagonally up to meet the left tip of the triangle.

Create the Body Structure

a) You now have a small triangle flap that you just folded upwards. Take this flap and fold it over to the left side, so it lies flat and matches the shape.

b) Carefully turn the paper over, like flipping a page in a book. The folds should stay in place.

c) Now take the left and right corners (the two "wing tips") and fold them diagonally upward so they meet at the top point. This creates a diamond or square shape made from two overlapping triangles.

Shape the Body and Fold Details

a) Carefully flip the paper back to the front side, so you're looking at the clean square again.

b) Take the left edge and fold it inward toward the center, aligning it with the middle crease. Then do the same with the right edge. The model now looks longer and slimmer.

c) Take the bottom edge and fold it upward—just a small portion, about one-third of the length. This will become part of the frog's body and help form the springy shape later.

Finish and Decorate

a) Now turn the entire model over again. You should now see a shape that clearly resembles a frog: a wide body, two folded sides, and legs.

b) Use a pen or marker to draw two eyes near the top and maybe a smile or spots. You can also fold the tips of the legs slightly to give them more character.

c) Your origami frog is now complete!

Conclusion

Now you’ve folded your very own origami frog – no scissors or glue needed! You can decorate it however you like, try different colors or sizes, or even make a whole frog family. 🐸
