Fried Blooming Onion
Excellent Saturday evening indulgence to side kick that BBQ steak. This amazing fried onion is easyer to make than onion rings, but its spectacular and delicious!
Ingredients
- 1 large spanish onion
- 2 1/2 cups of flour
- 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp of garlic powder
- 2 tbsp of paprika
- 1/2 tsp of oregan
- 1 tsp of seasoning salt
- Cracked black pepper to taste
- 2 eggs
Cut Your Onion
Make 4 incisions at right angles all the way trought the onion without cutting to the root part.
Then make more incisions all the way around to create the petals.
Double Dip Your Onion
Coat your onion with the mixed dry ingredients making sure to cover all the petals. Then coat it with the beaten eggs and drip the excess. Return to the dry ingredients and coat the egg evenly. Put your onion in the freezer for about 1 hour.
Fry Your Blooming Onion
Start by putting your onion petals down in the deep fryer at 400 for 15-20 seconds then flip it (petals up) at 340 for 10 to 15 minutes.
Put it petals down on paper towels to remove the excess oil then flip it bak.
