Fresh Strawberry Sauce

Strawberry Sauce (Great over cheesecake, Shortcake and MORE)

Easy way to make Fresh Strawberry Sauce. This makes a delicious topping to cheesecake, ice cream or shortcake.

It All Starts With the Strawberries

Ingredients:

2 pounds of strawberries hulled
1/2 cup of sugar
2 Tbps of water
1 tsp Balsamic Vinegar (optional)

Cornstarch mixture:
2 Tbps of water
2 teaspoons of corn starch

Cook the Strawberries

  1. Combine the strawberries, sugar, water , and balsamic vinegar (optional)
  2. Get it up to a simmer over medium to medium high heat stirring occasionally
  3. Once a simmer is reached, cover, reduce heat to low for 15 minutes

Thickener

While the strawberries are cooking for 15 minutes it's time to get the corn starch mixture ready

  1. Add 2 teaspoons of corn starch in 2 tablespoons of water.
  2. mix thoroughly and set aside until the strawberries are done cooking.

It All Comes Together

  1. add the corn starch mixture to the strawberries and stir continuously for 2-3 minutes
  2. Remove from heat and let cool for about 5 minutes

Blender Time

  1. Add the strawberries in their deliciously creamy sauce into a blender
  2. Puree until smooth
  3. When you blend the strawberries, you will introduce a lot of air into the mixture giving it a lighter color.
  4. The rich red color will return after the mixture sits for about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Cool and apply to Cheesecakes, Ice Cream, Strawberry shortcake, or anything else your heart desires.
