Ingredients
- 12 sticks of mozzarella
- 2 cups bread crumbs
- 2 tsp basil
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp garlic
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 cup water
- a few dashes of hot sauce
- 1 1/2 cups flour for dredging
Mix Bread Crumbs
In a medium bowl mix all the dry ingredients with the bread crumbs and set aside.
Whisk the Egg Mixture
In another bowl whisk the eggs with water and a couple dashes of the hot sauce. Set that aside.
Breading Procedure
Next set up your three bowls along side one another. That's the flour bowl, egg mixture and the bread crumb mixture. Roll the cheese in the flour one at a time, then dip it in the bowl with the egg mixture. Roll it in the flour one more time and dip it in the eggs again. Then toss the egg coated mozzarella stick in the bread crumb mixture and coat well.
For Frying
Lay each stick in a deep fryer set to 350 degrees and fry for about 3 minutes, until the crust is golden.
For Baking
Lay the sticks on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake in a oven at 475 degrees for a few minutes. Try and get it before the cheese starts to pop out. let it set for a couple minutes once out of the oven.
