Fresh Juice Jelly in the Peel

This instructables show how to make fresh Lemon and orange juice jelly and use their peel as the container.

This jelly is look like a slice of lemon or orange.

Lemon Juice Jelly

  • 4 lemons
  • 50 g gelatine
  • 160 g sugar
  • 430 ml boiled water

Orange Juice Jelly

  • 3 small oranges
  • 30 - 50 g gelatine (depends on how hard you want the jelly to be)
  • 50 g sugar
  • 230 ml boiled water

Cut Lemon / Orange in Halves

Squeeze the Lemon / Orange

Remove the Flesh

Remove the flesh from the peel carefully, don't hurt the peel as it is the jelly container.

Prepare Peel Container Support

Cut the toilet paper roll into around 2 cm width as a support. Put the cut rolls on the dish and put the peel on the roll and keep the top flat.

Hydrate the Gelatine

Sprinkle the powdered gelatine evenly over a small amount of cold boiled water.

Mixing

  1. Boil the water
  2. After water boiled, turn off the fire
  3. Mix the hydrated gelatine
  4. Mix the Juice
  5. Put half of sugar and stir well
  6. Taste the mixture, add more sugar until taste well

Wait Cool Down

Wait the mixture cool down to around 40 degree celsius. Too hot will make the peel bitter; too cold will make the mixture set.

Put the Mixture Into Peel

Put the mixture into peel carefully, adjust the peel to keep the top flat if needed.

Put remained mixture into other container.

Remove Surface Bubbles

Refrigerate Until Set

It takes couple of hours or you may stay it overnight.

Slice It

Slice the jelly just like normal lemon / orange.
