French Toast

French Toast

I have always loved cooking and eating ,being a pure vegetarian my menu items had been restricted and I always wanted to have a french toast without egg therefore I thought of an alternative and made this vegan French Toast.I have used gram flour as a substitute to egg as the gram flour offers a similar consistency and texture.

Ingredients

  1. Gram Flour
  2. Carom Seeds
  3. Salt
  4. Red Chili Powder
  5. Garam Masala Powder (Powder containing black pepper,cardamom,cinnamon,cloves,coriander,nutmeg, turmeric)
  6. Curd/Yogurt
  7. Green Chilies
  8. Onions
  9. Tomatoes
  10. Water
  11. Oil
  12. Bread

Take a bowl big enough to contain all the ingredients and hold the mixture.There is no specific bowl material, you can use any household bowl you use for your normal routine cooking.

Adding Ingredients

1.Add the Gram flour in the bowl (150 gm for four breads)

2.Add one teaspoon carom seeds

3.Add half tablespoon salt

4.Add one teaspoon red chili powder

5.Add half Teaspoon garam masala if you are not able to find this Indian spice you can replace it with any other spice of your choice.

6.Add one tablespoon curd.

Mix

Mix the dry ingredients and gram flour together.

After mixing the dry ingredients add on some water to get a thick consistency batter.The consistency of the batter is similar to a mayonnaise consistency and more idea can be taken from the picture.

Adding More Ingredients

1. Add one finely chopped green chilli to the batter.

2. Add one finely chopped onion

3.Add one finely chopped tomato

You can also add some other vegetable of your liking.

Add some more water to the batter and mix all the ingredients well.

Preparing Pan

Take a pan and keep the flame medium.

Greasing

Grease the pan with some oil to provide lubrication so that the bread does not stick to the pan.

Dip the bread in the batter and cover it from both the sides.

Place the bread on the pan and cook it till golden brown.

Sprinkle some oil on the uncooked side and then flip the bread to cook the other side till golden brown.

Serving

When the bread is cooked nicely and is golden brown from both the sides .Serve it hot with ketchup and dip.
