Freddy Krueger Glove

I took some scrap pipe and other things and turned it into a freddy Krueger glove. Hopefully this helps others.

Supplies

Too many tools to list but I'll explain everything. I started with 3/4" copper pipe as well as a copper sheet I had laying in a drawer.

Cut Pipe

First measure the lengths from the template. I used a hacksaw to cut the lengths. Then I hit the pieces with my jewelers torch and pickled them in water and sparex to clean them up.

Flatten Copper

This is actually optional. I did it to make templating and cutting easier. The copper is very soft so it's very easy to cut in half and split open using various methods.

Cut Templates

Lay the templates on the copper and trace with a marker. I used Shears to cut the shapes. If you don't flatten the copper and just do this on the tubes it'll work but you'll have to cut with an angle grinder with a cutting blade.

Holes

Drill or punch holes per the template

Form Fingers

Start forming the fingers. You can use a broom handle to do this if you don't have a dapping block.

Finger Tips

IMG_2608.jpeg

Put the finger ends on anything spherical and hammer them down to create domes

Blades

For the blades it's the same as the copper just harder to cut.

Brazing

IMG_2609.jpeg

Stay silv flux before brazing. Braze with bag-5 braze since it'll bond to the copper and steel both. You could use plumbing solder but the joint will be very weak.

Finger Rings

Cut 8 rings with the copper pipe. Cut a chunk off of each ring and expand the ring and attach to the fingers. Braze with bcup-5 brazing rods because it will adhere copper to copper.

Hand Backplate

Same as before. Trace the template cut it out and clean it up. I had this sheet in a drawer. Honestly if you had one big sheet of copper to do the entire project with it would be way easier.

Rivet

IMG_2639.jpeg

Rivet everything together. These are rivets from Tandy leather. Just squeeze them and they're good.

Finish It Up

Cut the glove up and make it raggety any way you can. Slide the glove into the claws and rivet the plate to the glove.

In the future I'll pay closer attention to the finger ring placement because my pinky is too short for it. Also the glove I used just doesn't look right so I'll have to find a better one.
