Football Toss Game

This Football Toss Game will be the perfect activity for your kids for Outdoor Summer Camp! It's very easy to make and can be modified to many different designs. It will keep your kids entertained for hours.

• (4) 6′ 5/8″x5-1/2″ cedar pickets
• (3) 8′ 1×4 cedar boards
• (2) 2-1/2″ utility hinges
• 1-1/4″ Pocket Hole Screws
• 3′ paracord
• (2) 1-3/8″ screw eye

Cut wood for 2 frames from the 1x4's. Each frame is made from (2) 47" legs and (2) 17" stretchers. Join the frame together with pocket hole screws. The bottom stretcher should be 4" from the bottom of each frame. The frames will be 47" high and 24" wide when complete.

Install eye screws on the top of each bottom stretcher for paracord later.

Now use the cedar pickets to make the boards for the field design. The board is made to look like a football field complete with yardage lines and hash marks. Cut (12) 2-1/2″ wide and (8) 1″ wide boards from the dark cedar. Cut (7) 1″ wide boards from the light wood, 5 for the yardage lines and 2 for the hash marks. All are 24″ long.

Starting from the top of one frame, attach the boards with 1" brad nails and glue. The pattern for the boards is as follows:

1. 1" light wood
2. 2-1/2" dark wood
3. 1" dark wood
4. 2-1/2" dark wood
5. 1" dark wood
6. 2-1/2" dark wood

Repeat this design 4 times and end with a 1" light wood. Note, do NOT attach the 1" dark wood strips at first, just use them as a spacer to position the other boards.

Now go back and cut 1-3/4" strips of light wood from the 1" wide light wood. Use these pieces for the hash marks which will be on both ends of the 1" dark wood. The 1" dark wood pieces will be cut down to 21".

Make an 8" hole centered 10-1/2" down from the top and a 12" hole centered 13" up from the bottom. Use scrap pieces of the 1" wide boards with brad nails and glue to brace the boards together around the backside of the holes.

Apply an outdoor finish to the wood for protection.

Connect the tops of the frames with 2-1/2" hinges and tie a 3' section of paracord between the eye screws.

Setup in the yard and have a blast!
