Foodecoration - Nuts, Bolts & Rings
Creativity has no limits and boundaries. Food is one such platform where the first look has to be appealing even before it touches your tongue. In this project, I have used some very simple and readily available fresh food items and it would not take much of your time. Invariably I decorate my food plate and this is one such new idea that was born and is presented in this contest. Let me know if you liked it too!
Supplies
1. 2 fresh medium sized carrots
2. 1 fresh cucumber
3. A bunch of scallions
4. Small kitchen knives (2)
5. 1 food plate for decorating
Wash and Grate the Vegetables
In this first step I thoroughly washed the carrots and cucumber. I had picked up a small cucumber just for this project during my groceries shopping yesterday. Grated and wiped these vegetables.
Cutting the Carrot Pieces
This is the first step in which I cut the sides of the carrot carefully to make it look like a nut. Hexagonal in shape. Look at image 1. One small slice of this hexagon carrot looks as shown in the image 2. As a next step I cut another hexagon in the center of the slice which is seen in image 3. So by now I had both the carrot slices without the central hole and with it. Carrots slices are all ready.
Then, I sliced a long carrot slice as shown in image 3. The next was to cut a petal shape which I did carefully by cutting the slices and edges of the carrot (image 4). At this point I had a collection of nut shaped and petal shaped carrot slices. Refer image 5.
Cutting the Cucumber Pieces
Just as carrots, cucumber was peeled and sliced. Then I made a hexagon in the center (image 1) and made these slices ready.
In a short time, I had both carrots and cucumber slices in shape and ready for decoration (image 2)

Finally I started arranging the food plate for the decoration. I neatly organized the carrots petals in the center. The other additional nuts (open and closed) where arranged on the top (image 3). As a next step I arranged the cut cucumber slices and chains (or rings). Lastly I placed the scallions neatly over these carrot and cucumber slices. The plate was ready for my family to see another new ART form!
