Food Peeler Guard

Finger Guard 1 v2.png

Have to peel another potato, carrots, or even an apple? I have always had a fear of cutting myself with a peeler. this is my solution to remedy the problem, a simple finger guard. It can easily be printed in 34 minutes and will assure you to speedily peel all those potatoes as you rush to prepare for your next family gathering.

This model was created in Fusion, but I have included the STL file, making it easy to 3d print. I have included the Fusion file for anyone who wants to edit it.

Supplies

  1. 3D Printing Filament
  2. 3D Printer
  3. Slicer Software
  4. 40minutes

Preparing the File to Print

Add the STL file to your favorite slicing software. I am using Cura Ultimaker 5.8.1. Here are my Optimal Settings

  1. Standard 0.2mm Layer Height
  2. 20% Infill
  3. Yes to support (I prefer the "Tree" style)
  4. Shell Thickness .8 by .8
  5. no adhesion needed

I am using 1.75 for filament thickness with standard PLA.

Slice the model and transfer it to the printer

The model I have is the index finger of a standard male hand, use the scale function to increase or decrease it's size for your finger and/or thumb.

Printer Settings

You should be set to print, if you don't know the optimal printer setting for your filament here is mine for PLA:

  1. Nozzle - 200 degrees C
  2. Bed - 50 degrees C
  3. speed - 100%

I am using a standard Ender 3 Printer

Just like that you are good to go! I recommend having one of your thumb and index finger.

Now I do believe in innovation and improvements, so as you discover more efficient ways to do this, please share!
