Folded Felt Gift Box
After spotting these felt, flatpack breadbaskets from Teroforma, and I thought, "Dude, you can totally make that." My idea, however, was not a breadbasket, but a little gift basket. So I grabbed paper and pencil and came up with plan. The original tutorial, published at my home turf over on Curbly, was recently spotted by Nicole here on Instructables who invited me to post. So, with Curbly's permission, here it is, my first Instructable. Hope you like it!
Supplies Needed:
one 8" x 11" piece of heavy felt from the craft store, NOT the flimsy kind
a scissors
craft knife and cutting mat, optional but helpful
doo-dads to decorate the box
a pencil
a PDF template, which you can find on my Scribd page

Cutting the Felt
Print and then cut out the template to create a pattern.
Trace the pattern onto the felt.
Using the scissors, cut the image from the felt; if you have one, use the craft knife to cut the little, rectangular slots (it's easier than using the scissors).
Depending upon the thickness of your felt, you might have to adjust the openings of the trapezoidal cuts.

Folding the Felt
To fold up the gift box, fold the sides with the trapezoidal slots up first and tuck the tabs into the rectangular slots in one of the other two sides.
Decorating
And a bit of ribbon or trim of your choice and you're done!
