Fold-Away-Tray

Have you ever had a messy work area? Needed a specific place to stash all your tools and materials? Well this is perfect for you! This handy contraption helps you to keep your work space clean and clear.

You just need a 3D printer, some foam board, and glue!

You will need to print four leg hinges. You will use hot glue to connect each part. Initially you will need to prep each piece. The #3 pieces are printed separately. You will have to glue the little cone to the outside of the larger part of the #3 piece. You will then need to connect the two #3 pieces to create one piece. After this you will glue on one of the #2 pieces to the end of the #1 piece. You will then hold the #3 piece in the center of the connected #2 piece. After you are sure this is in the correct place, you will glue the other #2 piece to surround the #3 piece. You will do the same to the other side of the #3 piece. It should look like the video attached above.

After you complete all the leg hinges you will need to make a tray. This should be simple. All you need to do is cut a piece of foam board in whatever size you want. The one we used is about 12 inches by 6 inches. After you cut this you should make a boarder for the board. The border can be built by cutting long narrow rectangles: two rectangles of 1/2 inches wide and 6 inches long for the side borders and two rectangles of 1/2 inches wide and 12 inches long for the front and back borders. Once you have all the pieces cut just glue the boarder strips around the main board and you are done!

At this point you are almost done! You will need to glue the base of each leg hinge to the four corners of the board. Once this is done you can glue it to the underside of a table! If you are so inclined, you can glue a magnet to the table and to the board so it can stay in an upright position. And that's it, you're done!
