Foccacia

Foccacia is an Italian flat herb bread. It is a wonderful addition to any meal, and it can be taken along on a picnic or another outing. Experiment with your own variations of this bread, with different kinds of cheese, and other herbs and spices!!

Supplies

  • Bread Machine
  • Large Pizza Pan
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1-1/2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 Teaspoons Dried Oregano
  • 1-1/2 Teaspoons Red Star brand active dry yeast.

Making the Dough

Place all of the ingredients in bread pan, place on Dough setting, and press start. When dough is done, remove from bread pan, and place on counter to rest for ten minutes.

Shaping the Dough

Grease a large pizza pan. Knead the dough on your counter, and stretch it onto the pizza pan. Warm the oven, and let raise in oven for 45 minutes. After it is done raising, use two fingers to make evenly space holes into the surface, as shown in picture 2.

Baking the Dough

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Drizzle bread with olive oil, and liberally cover with grated Cheddar and Parmesan. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bake in oven 25 to 30 minutes until brown.
