Fluffy Earmuffs Sewing Project
I have created these warm earmuffs from a little piece of fake fur fabric (I bought this fur fabric for custumizing one of my scarfs) and a strip of golden fabric (waste fabric from an old linning of a jacket).
Appart from being super cute, I find them really usefull for the winter, as they completely block the wind avoiding my ears to get frozen.
Supplies
- A piece of fake fur fabric
- Some long strips of golden fabric
- White thread
- Sponge of 8mm thickness
- Pillow filling
- Wool yarn
- Marker
- Ruler
- Scissors
- A4 paper
- Sewing machine or needle
- 3D pencil and PLA
Step 1: Preparing and Sewing the Ears
Draw four circunferences (8cm diameter) on the fur fabric a cut them.
Draw two circunferences (6cm diameter) on the sponge and cut them.
Place two of the fur pieces face to face and sew them together, leaving 2cm without sewing, as an opening. You can use needle and thread or the sewing machine. Repeat this step with the two remaining fur pieces in order to get both ears.
Turn both ears inside out and fill each one with one sponge (in the middle) and a little of pillow filling on its sides.
Step 2: Preparing and Customizing the Headband
With a 3D pencil, draw on the A4 paper the shape of a headband (take your head measures into account) and give it, layer by layer), a height of 5mm and a width of 3mm.
Once it is cured, pull up the structure from the paper and add some circular shapes on the ends with the 3D pencil. These circles will be the suppports for the ears.
In order to make the edges of the band soft, wrap the wool yarn aroud it, and once it is finished repeat this step now with the golden strips, this gives the band a pretty appearance.
Sew the end of the strip with a needle so it does not unwrap ittself.
Step 3: Join the Ears and the Headband
Insert each end of the headband into one of the fur ears and sew the part we left non-stitched before, so the circular piece cannot exit the ear.
Our earmuffs are ready for the winter!!
