Flowerpot From Book Pages

1-24.jpg

I wanted new flowerpots that not everyone has. So I made some myself.

Supplies

Material:

  • Old book
  • Cutters
  • Scissors
  • Cutting machine
  • Adhesive
  • Cardboard
  •  Circle

The Paper

First cut the pages from the book with a cutter.

The pages are cut into equal-sized rectangles. The fastest way to do this is with a paper cutting machine.

My pages are 16 x 7 cm.

Additionally cut 14 rectangles in size 19 x 7 cm. You'll need these at the end.

The Sides Fold

  1. Fold the bottom side onto the top side and open it again.
  2. Then fold the top and bottom edges to the middle. Then the sheet is folded in half again.
  3. Now the right side is folded onto the left side. This will be reopened.
  4. The left and right sides are folded to the middle. Then fold the sheet in half again.
  5. One piece per round must be folded differently. Repeat points 1 - 3. Then turn the part over and fold both sides towards the middle. Finally, open this fold again.
  6. For the 14 larger rectangles make only the folds under point 1. - 2.

Put Together

Each piece has only two edges on one side (see pictures). Pay attention, because it is easier to push them into each other.

For each round you need 27 + 1 piece.

Push 27 pieces together as described.

The Last Piece

Bend the last part in the middle again.

Then slide both sides through the previous part and the first part.

You bend the last part again in the middle. Then slide both sides through the previous part and the first part of the round. This creates a circle.

The Bottom

On a piece of cardboard, draw a circle that has the same size as the inside of the book circles.

Then draw around this circle a second circle about 2 cm larger and cut it out.

Cut with scissors from the outside to the smaller circle. The distance between the cuts should be approx. 1. 5 cm.

Fold these small sections upwards. Then make glue on the outside of the sections and glue the whole thing into one of the assembled circles.

Assemble

Put all book circles on top of each other.

The book circles are connected to each other using the 14 larger rectangles.

Weave them diagonally over or under the individual segments.

Pull the stripes so far that the top end doesn't stick out. Glue the bottom end under the floor.

Finished is the book pages flowerpot.
