An easy fun way to add life to any space!

Materials

IMG_4777.jpg
  • Wood
  • String/ twine (I used twine but you can use whatever)
  • Fake flowers
  • Nails
  • Wood glue

(Wood can be any pieces of choice, I used 4 pieces of of about 1.7 inch thick and 1.4 inch wide pieces for the main part and 2 pieces of 1 inch thick and 1.7 inch wide pieces for the back supporting pieces)

Tools

  • Chop saw
  • Electric sander
  • Hammer
  • Clamp
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

Safety and Tool Use

Chop saw: Make sure to wear gloves, goggles/ glasses, and put a blade guard in place don't wear loose clothing, and secure your hair. Make sure no one is right behind you and they know you are cutting. First what you should do to use this (assuming that it is already plugged in) is align your wood so that the blade is just a centimeter or two off of where you want your wood to be cut so that yo do not accidentally make it too small. Next you should hold your wood against the backing provided on the saw, hold down the button on the saw, and pull the saw down to cut your wood, let go of the button as you bring the saw back up.

Electric sander: This is are hard one to mess up, so keep your eye protection on and do not sand your finger or anything else around you. and all you have to do is flip the switch, hold it however you want, and start sanding.

Hammer: Once again don't crush your fingers

Cut Your Wood

  • You will need to measure all of your wood pieces to their desired length and mark them
  • Next go to your chop saw and cut each piece (remember to always wear eye protection while using saw)

Put Your Wood Together

  • Clear workspace so that you do not get glue on anything
  • Add glue to the side of your pieces of wood and press them together
  • Put a clamp on your wood
  • After all are glued together, while glue is still wet nail on the back supporting pieces of wood
  • Let dry (it should take only about 30 minutes to dry, but the longer the better)

Sand

  • Make sure that your glue is dry
  • Use your electric sander to sand all of the edges and surface of your wood

Plan String Art

  • Use your ruler to measure and plan out all of your dots (I personally used 29 to make my mason jar design, but you can use as many as you want)

Nail It In
