Flower Girl Basket
There's no need to spend a fortune on a flower girl basket when you can make one better yourself!
Materials Needed
I made two baskets. I got mine from Goodwill and I payed less than $10 for both! You will need fabric. I chose mine based on color. I wanted my daughters to have the same color basket but not the same style so don't feel restricted to one style. You will also need a hot glue gun, trim, a flower embellishment (optional), cardboard and 1 1/2 inch satin ribbon. Make sure to take measurements of your basket so you know how much trim you will need. You should use 1 and 1/3 yard of fabric per basket.
Prep
Measure the bottom of your basket and cut the cardboard to fit into the bottom of your basket. Once you have the cardboard cut set it aside and put your basket in the center of the trimmed fabric. Fold the fabric over the top and into the bottom of the basket.until the entire basket is covered and glue loose pieces down.
Putting It Together
Use the trimming from the fabric and glue it to the cardboard. Once it has dried and is cooled put several dots of hot glue into the bottom of the basket and press the cardboard into the bottom.
Doing the Handle
This part can be quite tricky because you are using hot glue so make sure to be careful! Take the flat end of the ribbon and put a dab of hot glue on it. Press the ribbon onto the base of the handle. As the glue dries twist the ribbon around, gluing every few twists until the handle is covered.
Finishing Touches
Take your trim and hot glue around your basket. If you have a flower embellishment that needs to be glued, I would suggest waiting until the glue on the trim has dried before adding the flower and you're done!
