Pick Your Flowers
Take a walk and pick your flowers. Depending on what point in the season you are debuting your floral masterpieces, there will be different flowers to choose from. Daisies and dandelion are often abundant and their pliable stems make them a good choice. Any flowers that have a stem that can be bent nearly in half without snapping will work. If you are making a crown or necklace you will want to have longer stems. If you are making a bracelet then you can use shorter stems.
Picking some stems with just leaves will work well as filler if you are having a hard time finding flowers or just want a very full bushy crown.
Weave the Flowers
Choose a long stemmed flower to begin the chain. If you are using leaves then using those first, as a base, is a good idea. Hold the first stem horizontally and place the second stem on top of it. Then bend the second stem back behind the first. Bring it around the first stem and then over top of itself until the end of the second stem is parallel with the first. Repeat this process until the desired length is reached.
Note that as the flowers wilt slightly the piece will get slightly larger.
Tip: If you are having problems with stems breaking then try gently pressing on the point at which you will be bending the stem to break down the fibers slightly and make it easier to bend.
Finish Your Piece
When you get to the desired length, make a circle out of the chain with the two ends touching. Then continue to weave flowers around, connecting the ends. You can choose to stop here, if you do then tuck the ends of the stems that you just weaved into the other stems to secure it. If you want the piece to be more secure then continue to weave the flowers around the circle a few times and then tuck your last pieces.
Show Off Your Floral Adornments
Make a runway by sprinkling any remaining flowers and leaves down on the ground. Or just hangout with your new accessories. A fairy tea party could also be in order.
