Floral Pumpkin Candles

This is a great way to have a carved pumpkin but make it a little more sophisticated, maybe for an adult Hallowe'en party or seasonal table centre!

You'll need;
    A pumpkin!
    Black bin liner
    Candle and spike candle holder
    Floral foam
    Flowers/ foliage, spooky thingys!

Start by cutting the top off your pumpkin, scooping out the innards and carving your face! Or leave it plain if you like :)

Fitting the Foam!

All carved and as normal, cut a piece of black binbag and line the inside of the pumpkin, leaving a little out the top.

Cut a piece of floral foam (wet if using fresh flowers, dry if artificial) to fit the inside of the pumpkin and place inside. (remember to soak the foam first if it's wet!)

Now you can trim the top edge of the plastic bag, just make sure no wet foam touches the pumpkin or it will turn really quickly!

Adding a Candle!

Now, if you're using a candle in the centre, insert your candle holder and the candle first. It's easier to work around it.

If you don't have a candle holder, you can take 3 strong wires, make U shapes out of them and using floral pot tape attach the 3 curved wires equally spaced at the base of the candle to make 6 pointy wires sticking out the bottom of the candle. Use this to push the candle into the foam and make sure it isn't too loose.

Adding Your Flowers!

Starting with your foliage, create an edge or collar around the rim of the pumpkin to determine the circumference of the design. Add some to the height you'll want as well, remembering to stay a safe distance from the candle.

Lastly, add your focal flowers or spooky spiders and bits and you're finished!

:D
