Floral Dice Mixer

Dice Flower Glow Party Fiesta is ultra mega fun for the family and friends. Kids 4+ (but really any age)

This dice tower can be used for any dice game you have! It's a fun way to keep the dice from rolling off the table! Plus, it has lights and plays a little jingle when you roll the dice!

Supplies

Cardboard

Felt

Hot Glue Gun

Scissors

Paint

Tape

Cut the Pieces

Now that you have all the materials gathered, take your cardboard and cut 4 identical rectangles for the box of the dice tower. They can be however big you want your tower to be. My pieces were 5.5" x 3". I cut 4 smaller pieces to act as the little shuffler pieces inside. Mine ended up being 2 3/4" x 1 3/4". They just need to be a little bit smaller to fit inside leaving room for the glue and sides of the box.

Choose a color you want for your box and paint both sides with acrylic paint. I painted mine a light pink as requested by my niece, Penny. Let the paint dry!

Start Gluing

Heat up your hot glue gun!

After the paint has dried and you put the desired coats, you can start gluing the structure of the box.

Take 2 sides and glue one on the edge of the other.

Take a 3rd side and cut a little bit off for the opening where the dice will come out. Glue that piece to the other side.

You should have 3 sides connected: the back, right or left side, and the front that is a little shorter than the others.

This will give us the ability to glue in the little shuffler pieces on the inside.

Keep Gluing

Now that you have a bit of structure, you are going to add the insides to give it life.

Take the little shuffler pieces you cut out and glue them on alternating sides and at an angle. This way the dice will fall down and out of the dice tower.

If you want to make sure the dice roll out of the opening without just landing directly beneath the ramps, make the last shuffler piece a little bit longer... I glued on a little piece at the end, so just do it now if you want.

Take the 4th shuffler piece and glue it at the top. Make sure to slant it a little bit. I cut this one a little bit shorter, but you can keep it the same length as the others if you want.

Close the Box and Decorate

Now for the fun part!

Take the final side and close the box! Glue it all together!

Tip: If you are worried about it not being strong enough or it falling, glue around all the sides of the box to make it more sturdy.

After it is all glued and dried, you can start decorating it however you want.

I had blue, purple, pink, and yellow felt and I cut out flowers and glued them on. You can paint a design, draw one, use felt to make it more 3D, or just leave it blank! You can do anything you want.

The Base

I decided to make a base so that the dice wouldn't roll off the table.

I cut out a piece of cardboard that was 4" x 8" and 4 little side walls to glue on as barriers.

Next, pick a paint color you want and paint all the sides of the cardboard pieces.

Once they dry, start gluing them all together to look like the pictures above.

To add, I cut out a piece of felt to put inside for less noise when the dice fall.

Glue that felt inside and there you have your base!

CODING the Arduino

If you want your circuit playground to light up and make sounds when the dice are rolled, use this code above.

I used Microsoft MakeCode to make this code.

Make sure you put the input as "on loud sound."

This is where your creative coding freedom can come in handy. Feel free to create any code that you want, something that fits the theme of your dice tower.

I made mine have blue, purple, and pink lights and a little drumroll tune.

Download that code and export it to the Arduino.

Placing the Arduino

Make sure you have a battery pack to power the Arduino.

Plug it in and put a piece of tape on the back. Place it on the wall just behind the last shuffler.

Take the little wires and tape them on the side so that they are out of the way of the dice.

You finished!

Place the tower right side up in the base and roll those dice down!

Turn on your Arduino for a fun surprise!
