Floating Shelf for Lego
Steph was looking for a way to display her small Lego sets but couldn't find a shelf she liked. We decided to design and build our own!

Gather Your Supplies
We found some nice pieces of wood in Steph's scrap pile. We walked around the big box store and found slotted angle iron as a way to hold the wood on the wall.
Supplies
- Wood
- Level/Ruler
- Slotted angel iron
- 2 screws for studs and washers
- 4 wood screws and washers
- 3 screwdrivers
- Magnetic stud finder
- A wood boring bit
- 1/8" drill bit
Level and Mark Shelf Placement on the Wall
We found two studs with the magnetic stud finder so we could securely attach the angle iron to the wall.
Drill Into the Back of the Wood
The screws that attach the angle iron to the wall will stick out a bit. In order for the back of the wood to lay flush with the angle iron, we needed to create an indentation in the wood. We used a wood boring drill bit.
Drill Pilot Holes in Wood and Wall
We drilled pilot holes to screw the wood into the angle iron from the underside.
Screw Angle Iron to Wall and Underside of Wood
We used a hand screwdriver to attach the angle iron to the wall and underside of wood.
