Well this is the floating book shelf, the cost to make this project was $13.00 for materials like the 2/6 yellow pine wood and 3/8 dowels also the black stain i used. This project was fun to make and it was something that looks cool in my room.I chose to build this for my project because i had really no where else to put the stuff that you see in the picture at.it took about 10 hours to build cause i had other things to but other than that this it.

first when you have the size of the shelf cut how like mines is 16 inch long, you are going to sand it to make it smooth.

then after sanding it. use a 3/8 spade bit on the drill ,you make a hole equally apart. after i made the first hole at 3 inch second hole at 8 inch and last hole at 13 inch after you make your holes cut on that same side where you made your holes 1 inch and half. I edited a black line so you could see where to cut with tables saw.

Step 2

then after getting that peice cut off you cut the dowels 5 inches apart from each other and put it inside the wood. after you make sure it fits you glue only where it sticks out on the top not the bottom. what i used in this step was gorilla glue and the 5 inch cut dowels.

then after the dowels are glued in to the top part off with a multi tool and that point you can seperate them and the dowels will be connected to the top part not bottom.

at this part you just do a counter sink, so i drilled in halfway whith the 3/8 spade bit and the in that same hole i made another hole with the drill bit for the screw. you make countersink holes on the part where the dowels are glued inside

and the last thing i did was stain the wood black so it would look better. so i got one of these sponge brushes and brushed it on there like if you were to paint.foam brush
