Flat Iron Curls

This is simply a tutorial on how to curl hair with a flat iron.
Supplies

Supplies needed: Flat iron, comb, heat protectant
Start With Dry, Clean Hair.
Wet hair is more prone to breakage and damage, so ensuring the client's hair is thoroughly dry is an important step.
Make Sure Hair Is Thoroughly Detangled

This ensures smoother strands for better curl definition; it also prevents frizz and leads to healthier-looking curls.
Apply Heat Protectant

Applying heat protectant is a VERY important step before doing any hairstyle that involves heat. This lowers the chance of frying your hair when using hot tools.
Section Hair

This allows symmetry on the head during the hairstyle, reduces tangles, and keeps the hair organized and where you need it.
Turn on Flat Iron
Turn on your flat iron, make sure to maintain it at a healthy temperature. Preferably around 250°F - 300°F for fine hair, 350°F - 400°F for thicker hair.
Create Curls by Twisting Iron As You Guide It Down a Section of Hair

This step is the most important to get a curl. Place the iron half an inch away from the scalp, twist away or towards your body depending on how you want your curl to face, and then guide the iron downwards.
