Fixperts - Sergey's Monofin Attachment

As part of the educational project FIXPERTS at the Holon Institute of Technology (HIT) in Israel, we designed a monofin prosthesis for Sergey, who was born with a shorter left leg. Sergey, a passionate freediver, has so far been using only a single fin on his functional leg. To help him maximize the energy he invests in diving, we developed a monofin-based solution that attaches to his leg. This design leverages the fact that most of the movement in diving originates from the core, allowing Sergey to dive more efficiently.
Good luck! 😊

Get or Buy a Monofin !

In order to create the product in front of you, the first thing you need to do is obtain a monofin.
3D Printing

The first part is a 3D printing of the attached component.
The print consists of two separate parts that are ultimately glued together.
Rod and Its Parts

The rod we used is called a Delrin rod.
It is a strong rod that can withstand the pressures in the product
Diving Fin

Spacer + Neoprene Strip

The spacer is designed to keep a permanent space between the legs, insuring a more controlled and comfortable swimming experience. It is made out of palziv foam and custom designed that way to fit comfortably inside the right leg's calf, while securing the position of the left leg's foot in place.
Connecting All the Components Together

Elastic Sock

Recommendation:
Elastic Sock – To strengthen the connection between the monofin and the foot, you can purchase an elastic sock with a tightening strap and wear it over the fin to secure them together.
