Fixing a Water Pump With Baking Soda and Super Glue

Here's how to repair a plastic handheld water pump which had become accidently broken. The repair is made using super glue and baking soda. When super glue is added to baking soda, it sets into a hard plastic and has good gap filling qualities. The repair took less than 5 minutes to do.
Supplies
Super Glue
Baking Soda
Cling film
Sandpaper
Straw
Glue the Broken Parts Together

Cover the work surface with cling film or some other throw away material and wear gloves as when using super glue and baking soda to repair things it can be a bit messy.
- Sand the area around the join with fine sandpaper.
- Glue the 2 broken surfaces of the pump together with super glue and hold together until set.
- To make the join stronger, place some baking soda around the join using a straw and then add some drops of super glue on top of the baking soda. This will create a plastic and give extra strength to the join.
Gap Filling

Adding baking soda to the super glue makes it good at filling small gaps. This strengthened the repair.
Testing

The water pump was then tested by sucking water from a bucket. It worked fine.
