Fix a Merlin Garage Door Remote Button

Last night I broke my Merlin garage door remote control.
The small conductive button at the front fell off and disappeared into the ether. I managed to get the door to open by using my car key to close the circuit across the contact inside the remote.
Pricing a new one this morning made my jaw drop. AUD$35.00
So I got to thinking... Its a pretty simple fix.
Bits and Pieces.

On my desk I had a pencil pen with a rubber eraser end, some al-foil, superglue (CA) and a rubber band.
Ta-da... a solution.
I cut about 2-3mm off the end of the eraser, glued it to the al-foil and trimmed the al-foil around the eraser. The rubber band wasn't wide enough so I cut off a couple of lengths and glued them together.
I then glued the eraser/al-foil "conductor" to the rubber band strips, al-foil side up. Trimmed it up a little and glued it to the remote controller.
Ta Da...

Its not pretty but it works! And from a few tests I think it works better than before!
