Fix Your Headphones Jack Using Sugru
Happened to damage your headphone jack, in this instructable I'm going to show you how to fix it using Sugru. For those who have no idea of what Sugru is, it is a self setting silicone rubber. And is the perfect substance to fix your broken jack. There is no special skill required to fix your headphones, just some basic knowledge of soldering.
So lets start building.....
Tools and Requirements
All you need for this instructable is-
- Sugru
- Soldering Iron
- Wire Stripper
Cutting Out the Old Jack
Lets start with getting rid of the old jack, you can use a wire stripper to cut of the old jack. After getting that done strip the wire and you would find three smaller insulated wires inside. Heat the wire to a candle flame to get the insulation off. Then solder the wire as shown in the diagram make sure you get the coloured wires in the right order as shown in the picture.
Sugru
Once you have soldered the wire, cut open a pack of Sugru. Mold the Sugru and use your creativity to get it in the shape of a earphone jack. I know I'm not a good artist but I still got the job done. Sugru takes 24 hours to set so you have to have some patience before you start using your earphones again.
