Fix Broken Bluetooth Speaker to a Dual Bass Loudspeaker
Hey readers in this instructables I will show you how you can convert your old Bluetooth speaker to something useful.
Do you also have a speaker that has low battery backup or a nonworking speaker? Then it is the right time to convert that to a powerful bass speaker like I did.
I had a Bluetooth speaker and it is more than 3 years old, suddenly the speaker started to have some issue and its battery could not last more than a minute so i took a chance to modify this and give it a second chance, Everybody deserves a second chance why not this speaker!
From the above step, you can see how powerful the bass is and you too can expect the same if you are building this.
After this modification, you can use this speaker in multiple areas for example if you are having a small outing and have no speaker with you this could be the best option.
One main advantage here is the speaker circuit/ hardware already has an option for multiple inputs like the card slot and USB slot, With a USB slot you can add a memory stick and load all your favorite music.
Coming to the backup this has 4 times more backup than its original version and also you can expand this too, But for me I think this is enough, and also on the go you can charge this with a power bank with USB cable.
With all the functions being said let us directly hop in to build this project, all the best and cant wait to see how your build came out.
Supplies
Old speaker with Bluetooth(in my case battery and speaker were not working)
Spare speakers(this was recycled too)
Screwdriver
Tp5056 charging board
18650 battery
Few pieces of wire
Empty box
Hot glue and soldering gun
Phone or any device with Bluetooth
Charging source to power the battery
USB cable (2.0 series) for charging the battery
Scavenging the Speaker
You need a screwdriver depending on the type of screw your speakers are using, In most of the cases all the acres used in such electronic devices are Philip or called star type.
Remove the back panel and see the electronics inside for any missing connections, if everything seems good close the lid back and if you see any problem fix it, if you see any dust then also you might need to clean it since this may cause some issues in the later days.
The layout of your hardware might seem different than mine but in the end the purpose is the same so if the shape of your speaker is square and mine is cylindrical but the battery inside both would be the same!
You can see the battery part here, this needs to be replaced by a new battery, also there will be a small wire also known as Bluetooth antenna that helps to increase the range of Bluetooth, mine was attached to a tag so I removed the tag and I kept the antenna part.
Adding the Battery
This is the most important part because we are replacing the nonworking ones with a good one, to add new batteries disconnect the wires that are connected already and solder the new batteries here.
To make the battery chargeable there are 2 options the first is the board of the old speaker can charge the battery but the current supply coming out from there is very low so i decided to use my own Tp4056 charging board.
Connect the board to the 18650 battery and the output from the board to the input of the speaker board. To solder the wires here is a small tip.
If you think soldering wires to the lithium-ion batteries are difficulty that is because either you are using low quality soldering, here is how you can fix that.
Using a screwdriver make minor scratches on the top surface of the battery, now add the solder and finally add the wires, this will make the soldered joints stronger.
Insulate the end with hot glue so we are not having any issues later on.
Circuit Building
The circuit is very easy if you are experienced to some extent in the field of electronics, If you are not don't worry below is a detailed guide on how you can set up this on your own.
The old speaker has the electronics that are required for Bluetooth connection and the input and output terminals, The battery was not working so I had to get it fixed by replacing it with a new battery, and that was already done above.
The second part is adding the new speaker, Since I will be using 2 speakers I will need 4 wires to establish the connection between the circuit board and the speaker.
Solder the wires directly to the speaker and here we will be using the parallel type of connection, which means both the positive end of the speaker go to the circuit and the same with the negative ends too.
Make sure you are insulating the open ends using hot glue since we will be placing all the components together later which might cause the connections to touch each other.

How to Use This
Using this is no different than using a normal Bluetooth speaker, Turn on the power supply of the speaker if you are out of charge and impatient to test this speaker you can connect the speaker to the USB cable and connect the other end to a power bank or a power adapter.
Turn on the speaker, now on your mobile device turn on the Bluetooth and connect that to your speaker, Search for the devices below on your phone and you will be able to see the name of your speaker.
After the connection is established go to your favorite music playlist and start to play, if you feel the volume is less increase the volume on your phone, and again if you feel it's not enough increase the volume from the speaker buttons.
The output that this device gives is impressive, take it on a spin during outings, No need to worry about the backup of the battery since we all know that 18650 batteries are known for their long backup time.
The only thing that matters here is how good is your taste in music and how powerful bass this speaker will give out and both are out of the box! Thanks for reading and comment if you have any questions.
Working Speaker Video
Here is the video that shows the testing of this speaker bass, Believe me, this is so loud that it certainly passes above your expectations.
If you missed reading any step in the instructable this video got you covered! In the video, you might need to check the circuit build part since it shows that in detail.
This is an ideal speaker for small indoor parties and dayout, This also has other input options like SD card and USB, The choice is yours. That's all for this speaker project, see you soon with some other interesting project, Thank you and have a good day.
