Fitted Coronavirus Mask

The CDC now recommends wearing cloth face masks when in public and has published instructionsfor making one out of a T-shirt. I modified those instructions to make a mask that fits better around the face and is much more comfortable (pattern modeled off of this woodworking dust mask).

It's very simple to make and wear: cut two copies of the pattern below, sew (or staple and tape) along the dotted line, and turn it inside out.

The T-shirt material is reportedly better at stopping droplets from leaving your mouth, and its stretchiness also makes the fit flexible. It would be easy to improve with Velcro for the attachment in the back or iron-on interfacing for better filtration. You could also Serge or hem the edges or scale the pattern down to fit a smaller face.

Good luck, stay safe!
