First Aid Kit to Go
This is the time of the year when everyone is outside working or playing sports, picnics, swimming and just having fun. Sometimes the unexpected will happen and there is a need for a band aid, pain reliever, or Benadryl. Be prepared this summer and make a First Aid Kit To Go for those unexpected emergencies. Here is a quick and easy one to make.
The picture shows things you might put in a kit. I did not have small bottles but that is what this kit was designed to hold.
Materials:
Ruler
Sewing pins
Red Marker
Scissors
Seam ripper optional
Velcro optional
Sew:

Cold pack
Hand wipes

Materials:
Cut 2 Fabric pieces 15" wide X 42 1/2" long Denim would work great!
Cut (1) Vinyl 10" wide X 42 1/2" long I used part of a table cloth
Cut 2 Fabric ties from scraps 20" long or Velcro for closure
Matching thread and sewing needle
Left over vinyl scrap for First Aid Kit's Label

Tools:
Ruler
Sewing pins
Red Marker

Method:
Place the main fabric right side up facing you.
Lay the vinyl on top of that right side up.
Lay the left over fabric piece right side down so the fabric pieces will be right sides together.
Lay the vinyl on top of that right side up.
Lay the left over fabric piece right side down so the fabric pieces will be right sides together.
Sew:
Sew by hand or machine the two long edges of the fabric 1/4 " seam allowance.
Trim loose threads.
Turn right side out.
Press carefully; don't get too close to the seam and melt the vinyl.

Bottom Pocket:
With the vinyl side facing you and being on the top; fold the vinyl up away from the fabric, and turn up 6" to form the bottom pocket.
Mark each pocket 6" across using a sewing pin or light pen to mark it because it will show. Chalk would be best or pins.
Sew each pocket by hand or machine.
Trim threads.

Hem The Sides:
Turn under 1/4" hem for the sides and pin.
Hand sew or machine stitch both ends.
Trim all loose threads.
Hand sew or machine stitch both ends.

Label:
Fan fold the kit making the folds approximately 6"
Cut (1) label from the vinyl 3 1/2" X 6".
Turn under all 4 edges 1/4".
Center the label on the front of the kit.
Pin.
Hand stitch the edges.
Label the kit using the red marker.
Tie with the fabric scraps or use Velcro.
Cut (1) label from the vinyl 3 1/2" X 6".

Remove the items from the boxes so they will be quick to use.
