Fingerless Gloves

This is my first attempt to document anything as I make it, so I hope it’s clear!

I work in a building that is very cold at times but I need to use my fingers, so when I got my sewing machine I started making these sleeves. They’re useful when driving too.

Sewing machine (you can hand sew, if that’s your preference).
Cutter or scissors.
Cutting mat.
Ruler or tape measure.
Pins.
Chalk.
Mini jug (for a thumb sized round edge).
Fabric of choice (I used an Ikea throw as it was cheaper than buying fleece by the meter).

Decide how long and wide you want your sleeve to be then cut your two identical rectangles.

If your fabric frays (or you prefer to) hem the tops and bottoms of each sleeve now.

Fold your two pieces in half so that you can line up and mark where you want your thumb holes.
I used scissors to mark the start and end of the holes with a small notch.
(Optional)
If you’d prefer a rounded hole, mark that out on both sleeves and cut the shape out (this is where my small jug came in).
If you need to, sew/overlock the two sides of the holes.

Starting with right sides together (inside out) sew down from the top, stopped by at the thumb hole.
Next, sew from the end of the thumb hole to the bottom of the sleeve.
Repeat for the second sleeve.

Once you have cut off all the straggling thread, turn your sleeves back to right sides out and try on your work!
