Figure 7 Ip44 LED Walkway/garden Bollard Light
Hi, I am onyeka and I am an electrician, so I recently got hired to design a garden with lights, but my client wanted something very different from what was available in the Nigerian market,so I had to put on my thinking cap, after thinking of how I can get unique lights,I made up my mind that I was going to customise the garden lights to be used on my client's project.
Supplies
The supplies needed are
1. 1.2m length of 60mm × 40mm pipe with 3mm thickness
2. 3mm thickness plate
3. 1 meter LED aluminium profile
4. 1 meter 2835 LED strip 10w/m
5. 2 LED mini recessed light
6. PUR adhesive
7. 1mm² Twin cables
Machines needed
1. Welding machine
2. Angle grinder
3. Pillar drill
4. Annular drill
5. Spray pump compressor
9. A spray paint workshop

Design of the Figure 7 Bollard Light
I started to think out on what the design could be like, I thought of making use of the numbers I then found that I could create number 7 and put some lights in it, because I am not so proficient in CAD,I did my design the manual way on a drawing paper
Making the Figure 7 Frame
1.To make the frame for my light,I call up my friend Elvis, he operates a very big metal workshop in Ikeja,Lagos. We get busy making the frame, one of the major challenges was how to give a 15° cut to the base side so that we get a perfect slope for the figure 7 @ 75° ,Elvis didn't have a protractor so we had to use our geometry knowledge to get the length of side for the off cut,
2. We cut the upper frame of the figure 7 to make the head of the frame, and also drill 40mm ø holes underneath to fit in our 45mm ø LEDs, next is
3. We join up the two parts of the frame
4.we Crete the footing of 100mm × 100mm and drill the mounting holes
5. We attach all body parts and cut out a final groove by the sides to fit in our led profile
6.we grind down all welded joints to achieve a neater workpiece
7.we put a plum to confirm that our frame is upright and perfectly formed

Applying Finishing and Painting
At the design stage, one of my major concern was what finish to use, so like I always do I hit Google and started to look for suitable finishings for metalwork projects,I then found out about powder coating ,I studied the process but the challenge was, I didnt have any of the machineries for such job even for a DIY stage, so I had to rethink. I then decided I will make the finishing look something close to powder coated.
1. We used some body filler to fill up the imperfections
2. We washed and sanded down till we achieved a smooth line on the frame
3. We applied putty so that when we spray paint, the effect will come out👌
4 we applied 2 coaches of my desired spray paint (mettalic gray)

Fixing in the LEDs and Coupling Up the Lights
1.We fit in 2pcs 40mm led
2. We install the profile, with 12v led and 12v adapter
3 we connect power to test out our bollard light

Making the Complete Quantity Needed for the Garden Design
We made 4 quantities and pit in blue LEDs to give us a different blend
