This is our "Fermentation Beer Coleer" for making homemade beer ( yuuup!! )

It is an easy project which takes some time but it is very interesant for DIY Beer!

Materials You Need

Firstly, we have to get some materials for create the "chasis" fo the Cooler.

You must to buy some materials in handwick stores. You need as main chasis a few polystyrene like the picture.

Also, you need, as complement of the Cooler, some extra material for working with Polystyrene: Screwdriver, Silicone, Screws, Mini Wheels, etc.

You also need the electronic devices for sourcing the fan and monitoring, like Iron Solder, Thermostat or Thermometer( or little wheater station! )

First Step - Structure

The first step is calculate what space do you have for the Cooler. Cut the polystyrene like a rectangle as you can see in the picture.

The size of the parts depends of the size you want, in our case we choose the size for 2 barrel of berr because we love brew !!!

We create a solid wood surface with litlle wheels for moving the cooler and give more stability.

Air Flow

The main point to be considerered is the "air flow" inside of the structure. As you can see, we have 2 differents places inside: The Cooler and the Air Forced Circuit.

You need to "move" the hot air create in the fermentation of beer to the " heat exchanger" or Air Forced Circuit in the lateral of the structure.

The hot air normally go to up and the cold air goes to down, so we have to "force" the movement for making that hot air pass for the heat exchanger and, then, this air get colder and, finally go to fermentation place (The Cooler ).

This is a normal law in thermodinamics for air.

For that reason, wen need 2 holes in the wall of inside, one up rigth and the other in the left botton

The size of heat exchanger chamber is what you think you need, our purpuse is working between 10 ºC - 25 ºC so it ok for our device.

Also, we put a computer fan in the upper hole we create and we make a little hole for the voltage source for the fan.

Closing the Structure

When you have all the dimension calculates ( it is depend for you requirementes of space, design, etc ) the next step is, of course, closing the structure.

You need an special silicone for polysteryne to close the structure. The best way for doing that is starting with the base and the lateral structure.

When you finish this step, you must to put screws in all the corner of the structure and, ok, where you need for closing the chamber.

In addiction, we reinforce all the edges of the mobile partes in order to reduce the damage and increase the heat isolating.

This is a critical "process" because you need to make a nice closing for avoid heat/cold loses and if you spend more time o materials in isolating the device you will have a higher efficiency with low electrical use.

Instaling the Devices and Finish!

Now, when you close all the part of the structure, the next step is to installing all the measuring devices inside / outside of the cooler .

After, we put the door

We put the thermostat in the central wall in a little support we created but it as you need o wish, keeping in mind that the thermostar should measure in the more central side for avoid error in the measuring.

In order to upgrade this cooler you can try to assembly an arduino for controlling the fan with a thermostat etc.

.....that is!!! So now you can enjoy your beer!!!!
