In this instructable, I would like to share with you a simple Felt Valentine Heart Basket. If you fill it with treats, and hang it on the doorknob of someone special, it will make a wonderful surprise!

Supplies

  1. Two pieces of felt (different colors)
  2. A needle and thread
  3. A pair of scissors
  4. A ruler
  5. A piece of chalk

Cutting Out the Pieces

Cut out two 7 in. by 2 in pieces of felt, one of each color. Then round the ends.

Marking the Pieces

Fold each piece in half, and place one on top of the other, in a heart shape. Mark with chalk along the edge where the two pieces overlap. Now place the other piece on top, and repeat.

Cutting the Loops

Draw three lines, half an inch apart, from the folded edge to the line you made. Then cut along those lines.

Weaving the Loops

Thread the first pink loop through the first magenta loop, then thread the second magenta loop through the same pink loop. Next, thread the pink loop through the third magenta loop, then thread the last magenta loop through the pink. Now, weave the second, third, then fourth pink loops through all the magenta loops in the same fashion.

Making the Handle

Cut out an 8 in. by 1/2 in. piece of felt (either color).

Carefully stitch one end of the handle to the front left half of the heart basket, and the other to the back right.

Now fill the heart with treats and hang it on the doorknob of someone special!
