Colorful Pen Blotches
This crafty technique is great for birthday cards, decorating, or just a fun something to do! It has a watercolour like style, that bursts with colour. You can use any felts for this. If you want you could test out different types to see what works better. Permanent markers and whiteboard markers do not work. Anyone can do this and it only takes about 5 mins. Enjoy!!
Supplies
- Felt pens / markers ( the thicker tips work better)
- A sheet of plastic ( any size, depends on how large you want it)
- Water in a spray bottle or bowl (just has to have a mist or small drop consistency)
- A black pen and or white ( thin tip is better)
- Paper or canvas (can't be too thin)
- Plus some tissues or paper towels, for cleaning excess water
Choose Your Pen Colour!!
So start by picking a few coloured pens, I usually use about three. Then grab the bit of plastic and use your pens to colour a certain area. I recommend doing three lines on top of each other if you were doing three different colours. Leave small gaps between the lines to give blending space for the next step.
Using the Water
Using your spray bottle (or flicking droplets*) spray the water onto where you have coloured. It should lightly cover the pen and some space around it. Too much water will make the colour not as vibrant and not enough won't let the pen spread. Then carefully turn the plastic over and onto your paper.
Blending
Press down over the plastic with your fingers in a motion following the pen lines. Smudge out wards to spread the colour. Smudge down to combine. It's a bit of trial and error till you find out how you like it best.
Remove the Plastic
Carefully pull the plastic off the paper. Wipe it with a paper towel so it can be used again. Using your paper towel dab on the paper where there is too much water. Beware too much dabbing can remove some colour. Anyway the water will air dry.
The Final Step!
Once the water has dried, you can get out your black pen and basically just doodle or calligraph over the colour splodges. You can always cut these out or put them on a card for someone. This is a great little trick for something new, which can be transformed into something amazing with your creativity!
Hope you enjoyed this, thanks!
