Featherball!

In this Instructable, we will go through the steps for making a featherball!

The objective is to keep the featherball bouncing on any part of your body without touching the floor.

• 1 Plastic straw
• 2 Washers
• Fabric
• 1 Old glove
• 3-7 Feathers (whatever colors you want)
• Hot glue gun
• Liquid glue bottle

The materials are in the image.

Take out the straws and washers. Cut the straws to about 2-3 inches long. It doesn't matter if it's too long, you can trim it down later.

Cut one end of the straw into 6 equal segments. Put the washers on the straw.

Take off a washer. Use it to cut out a piece of fabric the size and shape of a washer.

DON'T put the washer you took off back on.

Hot glue the remaining washer on the side where the straw is cut.

Take the circle of fabric and press it onto the glue. Press into the center first to make sure the segments of straw point outward.

Flip over the object and hot glue the side of the washer that hasn't been hot-glued yet.

Slide the other washer onto the straw and press it onto the glue.

Fold a piece of tape in half vertically, sticky part outside, and cut a small mark into the side with the fold (the right side in the image).

Fold the piece of tape in half horizontally, sticky part outside, and cut a small mark into the side with the fold. When done, the tape should have a small "+" mark in the center.

Fit the piece of tape onto the straw (sticky part down) and press around the washer base.

Cut out a circular piece of tape. Put it on the bottom of the washer base and press onto the sides of the base.

Make another piece of tape with the "+" mark in the middle (see steps 9-10). Trim to a circle (I should have done this first, but I didn't) and slide onto the straw and press as you did in step 11.

Cut a finger off of the glove (preferably a thumb, since it is slightly thicker). It doesn't have to be too long.

Turn the glove finger inside out.

Press onto the washer base as shown and turn inside out, stretching as needed.

If the fabric goes up too high (see 4th image) trim until it about covers the washers.

Hot glue the washer and press the fabric of the glove finger onto it.

Squeeze some liquid glue out into the straw. Only fill it up halfway or so - remember, you'll be adding feathers.

Insert the feathers into the glue. Try to keep it balanced overall. If you want to add more feathers or the featherball is still unbalanced, don't worry! You can add more feathers in the next step.

Cut another segment of the straw and cut it lengthwise so that it's shaped like a hot dog bun. Wrap it around the existing straw.

Tape the straw piece to the straw with duct tape.

Repeat steps 18-19 for repair work.
