Creepy Halloween Fingers

Here's one more thing you can make with my homemade recipe for "latex": fleshy finger tips to stick on your window as a Halloween prop. This is the lazy version made with playdough molds. It's quick. It's creepy. It's non-toxic. It's cheap.

What You Will Need:

A recipe for fauxtex prosthetics (tapioca flour, water, coconut oil, plain gelatin, skin colored makeup)
A straw cut in pieces
A toothpick
Play-dough
Rubber cement
Fake blood

Finger Molds With Playdough.

Get yourself some playdough--either ready made at the Dollar Store, or homemade using any of many recipes online (I prefer the cooked version of playdough).
Mound it up so it's at least three inches high. Flatten the top. Sink your five fingers into the playdough to just beyond the first knuckle. Remove your fingers, oil them well, and put them back in the holes to coat the "mold" with oil. Remove your fingers.

Fill Finger Form With Fauxtex

Make a fauxtex recipe for "firm" prosthetics (the third recipe using 2 packs of gelatin), adding a squirt of skin-colored Halloween makeup (or any foundation you like).
Let the fauxtex cool about ten minutes. Fill the finger forms while the fauxtex is still somewhat hot. Use a toothpick to work out any air pockets from the fauxtex.
Cut 1 to 2-inch sized pieces of a straw and insert them into the tops of the finger molds, pushing them just below the surface and covering with more fauxtex.
Wrap the entire playdough mold with plastic wrap and refrigerate a few hours (I left mine in the refrigerator overnight).

Remove Fingers From Mold

This part is messy. Basically, you have to peel the playdough away from the fingers rather than pulling the fingers out of the mold.
The fingers will looks messy with playdough. Rinse the playdough off with cold water.
The fingers will have a little "skirt" at the top. Leave this edge on. It will help the finger stick to your window.

Glue Fingers to Your Window

Mark where you want the fingers to go on your window by sticking the stub end onto the glass. It will leave a smudge. Smear this smudge and let it dry. This "preps" the glass for glue.
Coat the stub of each finger as well as the smudges on the glass with rubber cement. LET DRY AT LEAST 30 MINUTES.
Stick the fingers onto the glass.

Make It Bloody

Add fake blood to taste.
