Fastest Homopolar Motor

This rotation is really fast. The principle of operation is always that of the classic homopolar motor , but in this experiment are able to reduce to a minimum the friction and the speed increases quickly.

To maintain balance in the rotor just place a powerful magnet few centimeters above it in such a way that the magnets are of opposite polarity. The powerful magnet over the rotor also has the function of lightening the rotor, this minimizes the friction between the rotor and the plate.

Under the plate I put a small magnet so weakly attracted the rotor so as not to make it skid

To build the rotor I used
3 neodymium balls 5mm,
1 cylindrical magnet 4x25mm
1 disc magnet 3x20mm .
1 rechargeable battery 1.2v
1 copper wire to make short circuit

under the plate
1 neodymium ball 5mm,

over the rotor
8 disc magnet 3x20mm .

The polarity of the magnets near the battery is important

S-N battery N-S (With this configuration wheel on one side)
N-S battery S-N (With this configuration wheel on the other side)
