Fancy Pansy Stand for Canvas Boards
Hi All,
In this instructable I will show you how to make a stand for storing your canvas boards. I made it such a way the stand looks very sleek and not very noticeable. It is also a very nice way to show off your paintings. You can store up to 10 canvases in this stand and this stand is also applicable for storing books, frames , etc. You can use this stand for any canvas of any size. Its very hidden and can easily be stored anywhere.
Why did I make this stand?: My mom is an art teacher and she loves painting and likes to try out new techniques of painting. She does all her paintings on canvases but the problem is that she has so many and doesn't have a proper way to store them and the problem with stacking canvases is it sticks and ruins the paintings. She also wanted a way to show off her painting to her students and fellow parents. I started with a couple different design and landed with this design because its very minimalistic and worked out the best. She can now put all her paintings in a cupboard and an organise her painting and never needs to worry about where to store them.
As always, I made this project with cardboard but you can make this with any material you want like wood, thin plywood, plexiglass, etc. Before using any other materials to make the project, cross check with the measurements and change the measurements it if required.
My family said it was a good idea/design to patent and mass produce. I also have a few other projects(other than the ones on instructables) I could do this for. If any of you have any experience with patents pls do say so in the comments.

Supplies
- Cardboard (Or any other material)
- Liquid Glue
- Hot Glue
- Box Cutter/X-Acto Knife
- Scale/Ruler
- Pencil/Pen
Cut Out the Pieces of Cardboard
I am using cardboard of width of 1.2 cm and as I said before, change the measurements according to the material you are using.
Cut out cardboard pieces according to the measurements as given below:
A)Base Pieces:
1. 20 inches X 6 inches (Cut out 2 pieces)
B)Side Pieces:
1. 5 inches X 5.5 inches (Cut out 2 pieces)
2. 20 inches X 5 inches (Cut out 2 pieces)
Cutting Out Slots on the Side Pieces of Cardboard
A)Making the template for cutting out the slots on the cardboard
- Cut out a piece of cardboard of 2 inches X 5 inches.
- Draw out a slot of width 1/2 inch and length of 1 1/2 inches and draw it an angle of 30 degrees. (Look at Picture 2). And then cut out the slot u drew
B)Using the template and drawing out the slots for making th stand function
- On the long side cardboard piece you cut out in the previous step, draw out line segments every 2 inches(Look at Picture 3)
- Then using the template line up the template and use it between the two line segments and then trace out the template between the two line segments. Keep up sliding to the next line segment an then repeat these steps until the all the segments have the slots.(Look at Picture 4)
- Cut out the slots and make sure the cuts are clean. (Look at Picture 5)
- Do it to both the long side pieces.
- On the slots you made put glue on the inside of it so it becomes smooth and we are doing that so it doesn't scratch up the paintings.
Glue Up All the Pieces Together
Glue up the two long side pieces to the base as shown in picture 1 & 2
Then glue the two small side pieces to the width of the structure as shown in pictures 3 & 4
Glue Up the Structural Support Pieces to the Structure
Cut out 4 pieces of cardboard of the measurements 1 inch X 5.5 inch.
Glue the pieces as shown in the pictures 2& 3.
This will add more structural support to the structure. It is absolutely needed and not a compulsory step.
The gluing of the structure is now complete.

I made 3 more of these as you can see in picture 3, My mom has a lot of canvases and this structure is easily storable so I can make as many as i can and never need to worry about making too many.
