Falling Duck Target

Today I made this cool duck target that falls whenever you shoot it with a BB gun, or most likely a small caliber, like a .22. It only costs about 8$, just for the plywood and brass hinges. Its made of a layered plywood, not like the kind you're thinking of. It is 3 sheets of thin wood stuck together. Either way, it works great and is a good precision target, as you can see when you hit the target. It falls down. I designed it to be like old shoot-em-ups in carnivals.

You need:

A jigsaw (Although with careful work, you could use a reciprocating saw (VERY carefully).)

Hinges (They don't need to be brass, I thought they looked better.)

The template on the next page (Just print one out, you can reuse it.)

Sharpie

Gorilla glue, screwdriver, etc. for attaching the hinges. I used gorilla glue.

Plywood (3 piece layered)

I don't own this image. I copied a simple one from Google and changed its size. I don't own this image. I copied a simple one from Google and changed its size. I don't own this image. Cut and Paste (heh...)

Trace the template on the plywood. cut it out with the jigsaw, and make a couple, like 3 or 4. Then use the hinges and glue, or screw them on as shown. Do the same to the other side on a piece of wood. I have a target board set up and there are pegs standing up. I nailed the board with the ducks on it to those pegs and it works amazing

How Does It Work?

In the image, you can see, whenever the duck is hit, it swings on the hinges, and falls over. Simple as that. Pick it back up and do it all over again.

That's it. Now just nail it to something where the ducks can fall, and have fun. Make sure to follow all gun and BB gun laws in your area before making this and using it. Also, make sure that the ducks can fall. If your BB gun is weak, like an old Red Ryder, it will ricochet about a foot and a half. But have fun, and wear eye protection.
