Fall Leaf Lantern
I have a lot of Mason Jars lying around, and there's a lot of fun projects you can do with Mason jars. So, I wanted to make a fall decoration out of them.
Supplies
Mason jar, and lid [ Don't use the thin metal piece with the lid, the only part you want is the part you screw onto the jar. ]
Real or fake leaves
Candle or lights
twine or decorative ribbon
scissors
Wire cutters
Hot glue gun with hot glue sticks [ Not in the picture ]
Mod podge or puzzle glue [ I didn't have mod podge at the time, so I used puzzle glue. It's basically the same thing ]
Sponge with a handle or just a sponge
Separating the Leaves From the Bouquet
If you want to use real leaves you can completely skip the next 2 steps, including this step.
Use the wire cutters to cut the wire strands off of the bouquet. All of them should look like the second picture.
Then pull the leaves off the metal strand.
Separating the Two Leaves
Grab the wire cutters or scissors and cut in between the two leaves [ right where the two plastic stems connect ].
Peeling the Plastic Off the Back of the Leaves
With one hand grab the stem of the leaf, and use your the other hand to grab onto the leaf, so the leaf won't tear.
Then Pull the plastic off the leaf.
Gluing the Leaves Onto the Mason Jar
Glue all of the leaves onto the jar.
You can cut some of the leaves in half to go around the top or bottom of the jar.
Putting the Mod Podge On
Dip the sponge in the Mod Podge or puzzle glue, and rub the the sponge all over the leaves. Covering every single leaf.
Tying the Twine in a Bow
Cut some twine/ribbon and tie a bow around the top of th Mason Jar.
Optional. Then cut some more twine/ribbon for the handle [ 6 inch worth ].
Put both ends of the twine/ribbon on the inside of the lid, and screw the lid on tight.
All Done!
Place the candle or lights inside the jar and your done!
Happy Fall/harvest!
I hope you have a fun and festive fall/harvest!!!
