Fairy Village
Hello! Here, I made a edible fairy village terrarium. I was brought to this idea by my personal interest of nature, mushrooms, and forests. In my best ability, I tried displaying the wonderful textures of the mushrooms, logs, moss, and soil. This project is super easy and very fun to make. I am more than sure, if you are like me and are intrigued by anything related to eating and nature, you will more than love this bowl.
To demonstrate it further, below I'll list every step for the process. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Supplies
Ingredients:
1 cup of sugar
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup cornstarch
½ tsp of fine salt
1 qt whole milk
4 oz bittersweet chocolate
1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate wafers
Vanilla wafer cookies
Pirouette wafer cookies
Green food coloring
Mini marshmallows
Raspberries
Oreo cookies
Utensils:
Saucepan- Mixing chocolate pudding
Bowl- Mixing chocolate pudding
Ladle- Mixing chocolate pudding
Glass bowl- Final product placing
Making the Pudding Base
In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, cocoa, powder and cornstarch. Add the salt and mix to combine. Set bowl aside
Heat the mixture In a large saucepan, add the whole milk and whisk the cocoa mixture. Cook over moderate heat while whisking until the pudding starts to thicken
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in vanilla extract
Chill Pudding
Carefully ladle the pudding into your desired glass and allow it to cool for 15 mins. Then cover the top of the glass with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming and chill the pudding in the refrigerator overnight.
Finished product of pudding- remove the glass from the refrigerator and wipe away any condensation that has formed in the glass
Decorate
Grab your decorations to assemble your terrarium. Start by placing the logs on the base followed by the rocks, mushrooms, soil, moss, and flowers.
Soil making and Moss making:
To make soil, smash up chocolate wafer cookies. Choose a vanilla cookie to make moss or grass and tint it green with a tiny amount of food coloring. Gently scatter the products on top of the pudding to express it as the ground.
Rock making:
To make rocks, take mini marshmallows and cover them in black food coloring. Only slightly so you have the ability to pick them up and roll them around in your hand to create texture.
Log making:
To make logs, break pirouette cookies and place them on the pudding
Mushroom making:
To make forest mushrooms, take a mini marshmallow, top it with melted marshmallow, and place a raspberry on top.
Flower add on:
Take your non toxic flower of choice and place it where you see fit. This should be your last decoration.
Finished Village!
By now, your terrarium should look similar to mine. This delicious recipe can be shared within multiple people, or you could eat it yourself, I don't really care. As long as someone enjoys it!
