-Trim seam allowance.
Attach Bottom
-Line up notches.
-Pin
-Sew with .25 inch seam allowance.
-This step is done the same way as lining.
Place Outer Layer and Lining Together
-Place the outer layer and lining together. Make sure wrong sides are together.
-Line up bottom notches and nose point.
-Pin together.
Bias Tape Top and Bottom Edge (Premade Bias Tape Method)
-Add bias tape to the top and bottom edge. -You can use made bias tape, make your own bias tape, or bias tape attachment. All methods work.
-Sew in the twist tie when adding the bias tape to the top edge.
-BIAS TAPE TIE BACK OPTION: Leave 10 inches at the start and end of each edge. This will give you enough bias tape to tie behind your head. NOTE: you can always trim the bias tape down if it is to long :)
-ELASTIC or CORD OPTION: Add bias tape on both edges. Do not need to go past the sides.
Making Bias Tape
-Use bias tape making kit.
-Cut bias tape to folder size.
-Feed bias tape though folder and iron.
Double Fold Bias Tape Attachment
-You can also use a double fold bias tape attachment to save time. This will fold the bias tape and sew it on at the same time.
Bias Tape Tie Back Method
-If you are choosing to use the bias tape as the tie backs you are complete and can move onto the breathing valve step.
-I do recommend cleaning up the raw side edge to prevent fraying. This is best done before adding the bias tape.
Cord Method
-Cut cord at 24 inches. This will give you enough cord to tie around the back of your head.
-Place the cord on the inside. Roll the edge over and hem down.
-Do not sew over the cord. You want the cord to side inside the hem.
Elastic Method
-Cut 11 inches of elastic.
-Same idea as the cord method.
-Place the elastic on the inside. Roll the edge over and hem down.
-Do not sew over the elastic. You want the cord to side inside the hem.
Tie Elastic
-Tie the elastic ends together.
-Move the knot into the hem.
Add Elastic Stoppers
-Elastic stopper are great for adjusting the size of the elastic loop.
-Pinch the elastic together and slide it though the stopper.
Adding Breathing Valve
-Place back of breathing valve on the inside of the mask thought the hole.
-Snap top on to secure on outer layer.
Add Filter
-Add pm2.5 filter and you are done! :)
