Fabric Bookmark
I made a fabric bookmark. I made this because I love to read and I love bookmarks, and I know other people also like them too. I thought this would be a fun craft to complete and it's also good because it's something you can use for days, months, or even years later.
Supplies
Fabric (of your choice)
Scissors (fabric or regular)
Ruler
Sewing Needle
Sewing Thread
Mini iron/Regular iron
Sewing mat (optional)
Grab Your Materials
Gather your materials. Grab any fabric of your choosing and grab your ruler and scissors.
Cut Your Fabric Squares
Take your ruler and measure out a 4x4 inch square and cut it out with your scissors. Repeat two more times.
Get Your Needle and Thread
Grab your sewing needle and thread of your choice. Take your sewing thread and cut off the desired amount. (Don’t worry if you run out, you can always repeat this step and the next step multiple times).
Set Up Your Needle
Take your needle and thread, and put the thread through the top part of the needle. Once you get the thread through the needle, tie a small knot.
Sew the First Square
Take the square that you folded in half and sew along the top side of the fabric. It should look something like this.
Setting Up Your Squares
Take one of the three pieces of fabric and fold it in half into a triangle with the design part outside, with the wrong sides together. Then flat iron it so it stays flat. Then lay the triangle in between the other two pieces of fabric. Put the two other pieces right side together with the non-design part on the outside.
Starting to Sew
Take your sewing needle and sew around the sides of the square. Take your sewing needle and poke it through the fabric, and pull the needle and thread through. Then take the needle and poke it through the fabric on the other side and repeat as you did on the first side. Make sure to leave about an inch of space in order to be able to turn it right side in. It should look something like this.
Turn Your Bookmark Inside Out
Take that opening you made in the last step and flip your bookmark right side out so the design part of the fabric is facing out.
Tuck in the Edges
Take your flat iron and the gap opening that you made in step 7. Take the two edges of the gap and fold it in and iron.
Resew Your Square
Take your flat iron and the gap opening that you made in step 8. Take the two edges of the gap and fold it in and iron. Once you're done with sewing, take your iron and iron out your bookmark.
All Done
You've finished your bookmark. Now you can use it with any book you read!
