Hello there!

This instructable has the purpose of teaching how to build a corner wall bracket, surrounded by carved transparent plexiglass and backlit to give a futuristic effect and a very striking decoration.

It is important that you know that to be able to do this project you will not spend more than 10 dollars because the material used can be obtained in hardware stores, and cabinetmakers as waste material, which of course, will be very valuable for us because we will reuse that material.

To build the Futuristic Corner Bracket you will need:

MATERIALS THAT WILL BE NEED

A piece of MDF approximately 15 mm thick (you can choose the thickness you want, yes, you must take into account whether your corner support will support weight or not. (it can be obtained as waste material in carpentry or cabinet shops)

A piece of clear acrylic or (clear plexiglass) 3-4mm thick (available as scrap at hardware or glass stores)

6 SMD white 3.7 volt leds

black electrical tape

3 to 3.5 volt power source

2 meters of duplex wire 2 x 18

instant paste

perforated metal support

Drywall screws 1" inch

TOOLS THAT WILL BE NEED

black marker

electric or hand saw

Mototool

Hair dryer or gas hot air blower

some gloves

Printing machine

As a first step, the place where the corner support will be positioned must be located

Once the place has been selected, it is necessary to position the piece of MDF wood on the corner of the wall in order to be able to take measurements of the height at which you want to install the corner support.

Cut measurements will be taken with the desired size, in this example 21x21 cm measurements were taken, creating a perfect square.

We proceed to cut the piece of wood marked with the chosen measurements. This cut can be done with a hand saw or an electric saw.

Then the 21x21 piece of wood will be positioned again in the corner of the wall to identify how it will be installed later.

In the next step, 8cm measurements will be taken on two sides of the piece of wood, as indicated in the image, once the measurements are taken, the points on both sides will be joined with a straight line. Finally, a straight cut will be made on the marked line, in the end something similar to a diamond will result. (see images)

It is necessary to print a pattern with the design of electronic circuit tracks. These designs can be easily found on Google images.

Once the design is printed, it is necessary to cut the piece of paper and glue it according to the size of the pelxiglass.

Once the desired design is located, a tool such as the moto tool will be used to carve the design on the plexiglass. As shown in the images.

In this step is necessary to take the measurement of the length and width on the wood, then to cut the piece of plexyglass as shown in the images.

Then it is necessary to get a heat source that allows the plexiglass to be heated in order to bend it and shape it. This process must be done very carefully to avoid burning the plexiglass due to excess heat or breaking it due to lack of heat.

Warning: It is very important to carry out this step taking into account basic safety elements such as: protective glasses, canvas gloves, heat gun.

To perform this step, it is suggested that you have performed the previous step. It is better to carve the design into the plexiglass when the surface is flat and not when the plexiglass has already been bent, it will be more awkward later.

In this step, the perforations will be made in plexiglass where the screws that will secure it to the wooden base will later go.

It is time to install the led lights that will backlight our corner support.

The leds used in this project, as well as the pelxiglass, the wood and the electrical connection wires have been recycled.

The leds used were sourced from the very common led panels found in average homes today, they can even be found anywhere.

Ok, these led panels have small strips with smd leds inside. Each led of these can work with a normal voltage of 3.0 volts normally and without exceeding its heating and brightness capacity, and they come together in groups, some in groups of 5 others in groups of 6 leds in parallel.

We proceeded to take the measurement of how many leds would be necessary to backlight. Then we proceeded to make the respective welds taking into account the color and polarity of the leds.

Once the wires were soldered, the leds were glued with instant glue in the places where they would be installed in the plexiglass.

Images of the process are shared.

In this step, a layer of transparent, fast-drying epoxy glue (10 minutes) was applied to the installed LEDs. This layer will help secure and protect the led connections.
