FR droids are a sister series to the BD explorer series droid. These droids are primarily tasked to assist with assembly and disassembly duties, they're indispensable assets utilized by entities like the Scrapper Guild across the galaxy. Their presence enhances efficiency and ensures safety in salvaging materials from wrecked spacecrafts and urban environments.
These FR unit droids are engineered with many specific functions when salvaging a Star Destroyer. Equipped with advanced scanning capabilities, they meticulously assess the structural integrity of derelict Star Destroyers and other debris-laden locales. Their multifunctional holoprojectors serve as both scrapping templates and cautionary markers, projecting holographic warnings to highlight potential hazards and guide salvage operations. In addition, their enhanced communication systems, including powerful speakers and long-range transmitters, FR units effectively relay vital information about imminent dangers to nearby personnel.
Being an explorer droid, FR-0G loves collecting data and investigating the complex environment of crashed Star Destroyers and other urban environments. Many times you can find FR-0G missing from his post to go explorer and generate new structural integrity data.
I enjoyed conceptualizing this droid and was modeled entirely in Maya. It was a fun challenge to research the Star Wars universe for references and model in a different style. I’m very pleased to learn a lot from this contest, enjoy!
