I first used pencil and paper to sketch out some shapes and ideas about what I thought might be interesting. I landed on the slanted wheels and boxy lop-sided head with one big eye. I wasn't sure what function the droid would have but, I liked the shape and I knew I wanted it to be fairly small. I started designing, and as the shapes took form I felt like the cylindrical eye on the right looked like a fire extinguisher tank. I then fell in love with the idea that this would be an assistant droid on ships to rush to fires and put them out when needed. The small left eye is designed like a nozzle where the fire extinguisher spray would come out. Now, I have been saving up for a 3d printer, so I have not been able to print this or design for tolerances, but I believe it would not be very hard to put this together. Every part is designed to have a flat side to print on the bed surface and I tried to make sure the droid looked as interesting as possible and stay under the 20-part limit. I really wanted to take this opportunity to learn fusion and once I save up for a printer, I cannot wait to print this. I have only been 3d modeling for about a year and a half and started Fusion about 5 months ago. This is my 3rd or 4rth design in fusion. I know I could put some extra work in and make it functional as well! I would love to have it roll around my house pretending to put out fires. I love the way the droid came out and I learned a ton!
