“FAN”-KENSTEIN’S MONSTER

Show your pride or disappointment in your favourite team this Halloween with this 2-faced monster head. If they are winning, show the happy face. If losing turn it around to the sad face. It lights up too.
Supplies

Baseball cap
Battery operated light
1”x10”x4’ piece of pine (Cut 2 pieces 6”x12”, 2 pieces 4.5”x12”, 1 piece 3/4”x 12”, 1 piece 2.5”x12”)
1- 8” bolt and nut, 1” washers
Wood glue, nails, Spade drill bits, sandpaper, marker
Hammer, panel saw, portable jig saw, hot glue gun/ glue sticks
Various acrylic paints, brushes
BUILD THE HEAD

Cut the wood to the proper sizes with the panel saw. Mark locations of the eyes and mouth on the 6” wide pieces and drill with the spade bit. Draw a smile on one mouth and a frown on the other. Cut them out with the jig saw. Draw triangle shapes on the 2.5” piece to resemble 2 noses and 2 ears. Cut them out. Cut the 3/4” piece in half. Leave one straight and cut the other in half to make a V shape. From the remaining scrap, cut some small pieces to resemble teeth. Glue and nail the 6” front pieces to the 4.5” side pieces to make an open ended box. Glue and nail the unibrows, noses and ears in place. Don’t be too concerned with symmetry, after all it’s a monster. Sand the rough areas but not too much.
PAINT

Paint the head a green colour. Paint a jagged hairline, and the unibrows black. Paint eye sockets and inside the mouth red. Add black highlights around eyes and mouths and anywhere else it is needed.
FINAL ASSEMBLY

Glue teeth into the mouths. Drill through the neck area on both sides and install the bolt, washers and nut. Top it off with the ball cap and set the bottom over the light. Trick or treaters should get a laugh out of it! Celebrate, (or not) the World Series.
