Event Makeup Look

Before we begin...

This event makeup look can be completed by anyone, from beginner to experienced makeup enthusiast! However, it does require a general knowledge of the products used.

The time it takes to complete this look should be between 30 and 60 minutes. The length will vary from person to person, based on their speed and experience.

To avoid any possible allergic reactions or skin sensitivities, make sure to check the ingredients on the packing for any known allergies, and perform a "patch test" of any products that are new to you. Apply the product to the inside of the wrist and wait for a few minutes to see if it will irritate your skin. If it does wash it off and choose a different product. If it does not, test a small amount of the product on your face as well.

• Warm the primer with your fingers.
• Apply it to bare or moisturized skin in a T-motion across your forehead, down your nose, and across your cheeks.
• Apply to the rest of the face as needed for blemishes and pores.

• Apply your choice of chapstick and allow them to soften.

• Hold the beauty sponge under a running faucet.
• Squeeze repeatedly to allow it to soften up.
• Wring out the excess water.

• Dot foundation across your cheeks and forehead.
• Use the beauty sponge to bounce your foundation onto your face, so as to not leave streaks.
• Use the pointed end of the sponge to reach any difficult to reach spots (under the eyes, sides of the nose).

• Apply concealer where necessary, (under the eyes on any blemishes one wishes to conceal, on the highlight zones if desired: forehead, chin, and cupid's bow).

• Use the beauty sponge to gently bounce across the concealer to blend out, moving out from the center of the face.

• Dip a large, flat-topped brush gently into loose setting powder.
• Tap off the excess powder, then press it gently into the skin to set the liquid into place and allow it to mattify.

• Using a large fluffy brush, brush the excess powder away from the face.

• Using an angled brush, dip the brush into your contour shade. Tap away excess.
• Sweep the contour shade into the hollows of the cheeks below the cheekbones, across the top of the forehead close to the hairline, on the sides of the nose, and along the bottom of the jaw.
• Using the large fluffy brush, that was used for the setting powder, blend in circular motions.

• Using a similar fluffy brush, dip it gently into the blush, tapping to remove excess.
• Smile widely so the apples of your cheeks are plumped, and sweep the blush across the cheeks.
• Try to avoid letting the blush sit in a circle on the cheeks, and blend it out with a large fluffy brush, across the sides of the fae above the contour.

• Dip a fan or domed fluffy brush into your highlight shade of choice. Tap to remove excess.
• In a circular motion, sweep the shade onto the cheekbones, cupid's bow, tip of the nose, and across the forehead.
• Blend out the highlight to avoid forming a streak from too much product.

• Apply a small amount of concealer or eye-specific primer to your eyelids with your finger and blend out with your finger.

Choose three colors. For an event look, we suggest:

• A transition color: a neutral color to allow for easier blending.
• A shimmer shade: a shimmery color that opens the eyes up (gold is useful for the most color combinations).
• A crease color: a darker shade similar to the transition color to deepen the eye.

• Apply your transition shade all over the eyelid with a flat brush. Bring it out towards the crease. Blend outward using a windshield wiper motion with a clean fluffy brush.
• Apply the crease shade with a small angled brush. Apply in a gentle C-motion, patting it down to the skin, with the back of the C facing away from your inner eye. Blend outward in a C-motion with a clean brush.
• Use a flat brush to dip into the shimmer. Pat the shade into the inner half of the eye. Use your finger if the brush does not give enough pigmentation. Apply a small amount more of the crease shade on top of the shimmer if necessary.
• Blend everything together gently with a fluffy brush

• Using a flat brush, use a very small amount of transition shade on the lower lashline, patting it gently into place. Blend it out if necessary.

• Close the eye you are working on.
• Draw a small line across the eyelid close to the eyelashes and bring that line diagonally maybe a half a centimeter out and up towards the tail of your eyebrow once you reach the outer corner of your eye.
• Connect the line on your eyelid to the end of the diagonal line to thicken up if desired, and fill any gaps that form between them.
• Repeat on the other eye.

• Take your fake eyelashes out of the package and trim the eyelash to your eye size, measuring it up against your own eyelid to compare length.
• Use eyelash glue to spread a thin line across the eyelash band. Hold the eyelash in a curved semi-circle while it dries to allow the lash band to stretch. Once the glue is tacky, close your eye and bring the eyelash to your lid.
• Set it down on top of your eyelashes with the band as flush to the lashline as possible. Hold it there until it stays in place on its own. Keep your eye closed until the glue is dry.

• Open your eyes to see if you are satisfied with where the lashes are sitting. Check to make sure they are roughly in the same place. Adjust by pulling gently on the edges of the lash band.
• Use mascara on your real lashes (gently!) to blend them in with the false ones, wiggling the brush back and forth to keep clumps from forming, and to sperate the lashes.

• Use your fingers or a spoolie to brush your eyebrow hair into the shape you desire.
• Taking your brow pencil/brow powder, fill the tail end of the eyebrow in before shaping up the front as desired, using small strokes to mimic hair.
• Use concealer to clean up edges if necessary.

• Use a q-tip to wipe the chapstick from your lips.
• Using your beauty sponge, pat the lips with the foundation side of the sponge to apply a light layer of foundation to the lips to work as a base.
• Apply desired lipstick/gloss.

• Close your eyes and mist your face with setting spray to lock in the makeup for the day.
